There are no Trust-operated Brooklyn ferries on fall weekdays. Someone staying in Brooklyn may need to travel to Lower Manhattan or check whether NYC Ferry’s separately operated South Brooklyn route works for the intended date.
Do not confuse Wall Street/Pier 11 with the Battery Maritime Building. They are different Manhattan terminals, and tickets issued for the Trust ferry cannot be used on NYC Ferry.
NYC Ferry describes its direct Governors Island shuttle as a summer-weekend-and-holiday service from Wall Street/Pier 11. At other times, it directs riders to the South Brooklyn route. The standard adult fare on a Trust-operated ferry is $5 round trip. All passengers ride free on Saturdays and Sundays before 11 a.m. Trust ferry travel is also free for:

- NYCHA residents
- IDNYC holders

- Governors Island Foundation members

The ticket covers a round trip, but the reservation system asks you to choose only the departure to Governors Island; you do not select a return time.

Dated ferry alert: September 21–22, 2026
Planned New York Harbor closures may cause ferry delays or cancellations from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. on Monday, September 21, and from 8 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22. The Tuesday disruption falls after ordinary public hours and is mainly relevant to eligible evening guests. Visitors traveling Monday afternoon should avoid placing a rigid timed commitment immediately after their expected return.
The disruption windows and any subsequent service changes should be checked on the official ferry alert and timetable before departure.
A walking-first Battery and Governors Island plan
Governors Island works naturally as a harbor extension of a Lower Manhattan day. The Battery Maritime Building sits close to The Battery and Bowling Green, allowing the ferry trip to become part of a compact downtown route instead of a separate cross-city excursion.
A practical sequence is:
- Begin around The Battery or Bowling Green.
- Walk to the Battery Maritime Building at 10 South Street.
